What exactly is Studio Shuffle?+
Studio Shuffle is a drag-and-drop schedule builder built specifically for dance studios. You set up your rooms, instructors, class styles, and levels, create classes, then drag them onto your schedule. It's designed to replace the spreadsheet, the whiteboard, and the stack of sticky notes.
Is it web-based? Do I need to install anything?+
Yes, Studio Shuffle is fully web-based. You access it from your browser with no downloads, no installs, and no updates to manage. It works on Mac, PC, and most modern browsers.
How is this different from a spreadsheet?+
A spreadsheet makes you do all the thinking. Studio Shuffle gives you a visual grid where you can drag classes to new times in seconds, built-in conflict detection catches scheduling problems before they become phone calls, and simple filters let you zero in on a single teacher or level instantly. Student overlap detection, automatic conflict alerts, one-click export — no spreadsheet can do any of that.
Does it work with Jackrabbit or my studio management platform?+
Jackrabbit and similar platforms are great at billing, registration, and communication — but they don't help you actually build your season schedule. Most studios on Jackrabbit still do that part in Excel. That's exactly the gap Studio Shuffle fills. You build and manage your schedule here, then reference it in Jackrabbit as needed. The two work well side by side.
How do I change the hours of the day?+
Click directly on the day itself and a pop-up will appear that lets you set custom start and end times for that day. Each day can have its own hours, so your Monday schedule and your Saturday schedule can look completely different.
How do I upload students?+
Open any class card and click the Students tab. From there you can type students in manually, or upload an XLS file. Your name column should be labeled name and your birth date column should be labeled dob. Those are the two headers Studio Shuffle looks for.
Can I add multiple teachers, levels, or styles to a class?+
Yes. You can assign more than one teacher, level, or style to a single class. When you do, the class card will display a color gradient to reflect the combination, so it's visually clear at a glance.
Can I create my own styles and level structure?+
Yes, setup is completely custom. You create the styles, levels, and structure that match how your studio actually runs. If you call it Mini Movers instead of Level 1, that's what it'll say.
Can I build multiple schedules?+
Yes. You can create as many schedules as you like. Build one for fall, one for summer, one for competition season. Switch between them any time. To copy an existing one, click Copy From when creating a new schedule and everything carries over: rooms, classes, times, and teachers.
